LONGPRIE 1924 - 2006 Mr. Albert 'Bert' Longprie of Red Deer, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, November 10, 2006 at the age of 81 years. Bert was born on December 8, 1924 at North Bay, Ontario. He served in the Canadian Army from 1943 until 1946. His theatre of service was in Canada, Britain and Northwest Europe. Bert received the 1939-1945 Star, France and Germany Star, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with clasp and War Medal 1939-1945. After leaving the army he had various occupations. After retirement, Bert enjoyed traveling, curling, various sports and was an avid bridge player. Bert could be found many a morning walking around Bower Ponds or shooting the breeze at the A & W with his many friends. Bert is survived by his loving wife, Idonna, his step-children, Bruce (Wendy) of Calgary, David (Betty) Cairo, Egypt and Carla (Ryan) of Red Deer, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. With respect to Bert's wishes, no formal Funeral Service will be held. A Public Visitation for family and friends will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820-45th Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. Cremation will follow at the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. If desired, Memorial Donations in Bert's honour may be made directly to a Charity of the donor's choice.
