WILLIAMS Loran Raymond (Ray) 1933 - 2009 It is with great sadness and very heavy hearts that the family of Raymond announces his passing at the Red Deer Hospice after a long, brave and courageous battle with cancer. Left to mourn is the love of his life, his wife of 53 years Mary (Chapman) whom he cherished. Also left to mourn are his sons; Robin (Kathy) of Sundre, Tim (Nadine) of Burnaby, BC and Joe (Andrea) of Kelowna, BC; his grandchildren Robyn (Mark), Ray (Triston), Tony, Drew, Eli, Amber and Brant; his great grandchildren who brought a smile to his face and light to his eyes on his hardest days, Dolan & Rylynn (Hills) and Wyatt and Kash (McAllister). Raymond's treasured cats Tibby and Nanu will miss their master dearly. He was predeceased by their son Andrew in 1986. He was born and raised in Penatang, Ontario, on the family homestead. Raymond met Mary in 1954 and moved to Burlington, Ontario, they were married on October 6, 1956. He worked for International Harvester for 30 years. After the death of their youngest son Andrew (at the hands of a drunk driver) they moved to Red Deer to be near to their son and grandchildren Robyn, Ray and Tony. Raymond and Mary started the first chapter of MADD Canada in Western Canada in memory of their son Andrew in 1993. Raymond's family would like to thank all their friends and family who visited him while in the hospital and the Red Deer Hospice. Special thanks to The Reverend Noel Wygieria, Dr. Nav Rattan and Dr. Michael Thain and the Nurses of Central Alberta Cancer Clinic, all blood donors and everyone at the Red Deer Hospice who helped make Raymond's last weeks peaceful and comfortable. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Luke's Anglican Church 4929 - 54 Street, Red Deer on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations to the Red Deer Hospice, 99 Arnot Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta T4R 3S6 or Red Deer and District SPCA, 4505 - 77 Street, Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 5H3 or the Red Deer Chapter of MADD, Box 1115, Red Deer, Alberta T4N 6S5 or to a charity of your choice in his memory would be greatly appreciated.
