On May 20, 2020 Loretta passed away peacefully in her residence at Villa Marie in Red Deer Alberta. She was 93 years old. Loretta is predeceased by her husband Eugene and her son Dale. She is survived by: brothers Matt (Lorraine) and Lawrence (Marg); daughters Charlotte Moran (Luigi), Darlene Moran, Dianne Clara Moran (Norm), Rhonda Moran (John), Cathy Ryan (Bernie) and her daughter-in-law Dianne Moran; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Loretta spent 40 years on the family farm working with her husband Eugene to raise a family and build a viable farm business. During that time she did everything from tend chickens to produce large vegetable gardens. To beautify her yard, she nurtured colorful flowers, lush trees and shrubs. She was an outstanding cook and baker. Guests and family alike appreciated every loaf of bread, pie and full course dinner she offered. She remained an astute critic of well prepared food throughout her life.
Like her gardens, Loretta nurtured her family of six children, as they rotated through 4H, music lessons, team sports, and academics: she ensured that they were active in the demanding work of the family farm. Despite her busy life, somehow Loretta found the time for the larger community of the Women's Institute, the Catholic Women's League, community concerts, winter whist telephone drives and club square dancing. In her retirement years, she and Eugene travelled as frequently as possible.
Loretta inspired us all. She enjoyed a long, happy and productive life. She accepted the aging process and death with grace and graciousness. Thank you mom.
Family members would like to express their appreciation to the entire staff of Villa Marie for the care and friendship they extended to Loretta during her stay. The staff became part of her circle of family and friends.
In accordance with provincial guidelines regarding Covid 19, there will not be a funeral scheduled at this time. The family may plan a memorial at a future date.
