SZOTT Lorne (Florian Michael) It is with sorrow that the family of Lorne Szott, beloved husband of Pauline, announces his passing at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Thursday, July 17, 2008. Lorne was born on September 13, 1928 in Daysland, AB. He worked for the Alberta Wheat Pool at various places during his years of employment. Lorne had a lifelong passion for music and his violin, which was well known by all who enjoyed listening to him. Lorne was a motorcycle enthusiast and travelled with Pauline on bike extensively in Canada and the United States. Pauline and Lorne spent many pleasant winters in Yuma, Arizona in the company of many friends and relatives. Lorne was a member of many clubs including the Elks, Royal Canadian Legion, Loyal Order of Moose, Lions Club as well as the Knights of Columbus. Left to mourn are his children: Richard (Jan) of Calgary, Sylvia of Red Deer, Garry of Vancouver, Alvin (Brenda) of Calgary, and Bev (Dick Northcott) of Clive. Lorne’s memory will also be cherished by his ten grandchildren: Corey, Jason, Aaron, Carla, Heather, Richard, Vincent, Kayleigh, Jordan, Todd as well as six great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters: Vera Kontek, Mary Szott, as well as a brother Frederick (Maureen). Lorne was predeceased by his daughter Bonnie, his brothers August and John as well as a sister, Annie. A Prayer Service will be held at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 67A Street, Red Deer, AB on Sunday, July 20th, 2008 at 4:00 p.m.. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 6 McMillan Avenue, Red Deer, AB on Monday, July 21, 2008 at 1:30 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to the charity of choice. Condolences can be forwarded to the family at www.parklandfuneralhome.com. In living memory of Lorne Szott, a tree will be planted in the Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium Memorial Tree Park.
