JOHNSON Mabel Edna It is with immense sadness that the loving family of Mabel Johnson announce her sudden passing Sunday September 20, 2009 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital at the age of 81 years. Edna passed away 17 days after her beloved husband of 55 years George passed away. She is survived by her loving daughter Caroline, and son Bryan (Kim) all of Red Deer, AB. Mabel's memory will be forever cherished by her two grandsons: Kyle and Brennen both of Red Deer, AB. Mabel was predeceased by her loving husband George, her parents Elizabeth and William, her four sisters, and her three brothers. Edna was a life long resident of Red Deer. She gave over 25 years of service to the Dietary department at the Red Deer Regional Hospital. She was one of the first managers at the Sweet16 store in downtown Red Deer, and also worked at the Capri. Mabel loved the Calgary Stampede, and never missed a year of the Ponoka Rodeo with her husband George. She was a HUGE hockey fan; and loved her Calgary Flames, as well as she was an original season ticket holder with Pat MacWhirter in section UU at the Red Deer Rebels hockey games. Mom loved the outdoors and fishing with Dad, and now they are together again after a short time apart. We will forever cherish the memories of our time with them. A Celebration of Life Service for the late Mabel Johnson will be held Saturday, September 26th, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 - 67A Street, Red Deer, AB, with the Reverend Fran Hare officiating. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations in Mabel's memory may be forwarded to David Thompson Regional Hospital Foundation, P.O. Bag 5030 Red Deer, AB T4N 6R.
