It is with immense sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Carol McKay announce her passing on August 29, 2024 at 92 years of age.
Carol was born in Red Deer on October 15, 1931 to Lella and Doug Bodwell. She spent her younger years on the family farm east of Red Deer in the Springvale District.
In 1951 she married Albert McKay and together they celebrated 69 years of marriage. They first lived on Albert's family farm in Valley Centre, and later settled in Red Deer, where they continued to raise their family.
Carol started working at the Red Deer Regional Hospital in the admitting office where she eventually became the director. Later she worked in the lab at the hospital until her retirement.
Carol and Albert moved to Calgary in 2017 to be closer to family. Carol is survived by her three children, Judy (Rob Hunter), Sharon (Mike Lemieux), and Larry. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on October 17 at I P.M. at Alto Reste Cemetery. A gathering at Sunnybrook United Church will follow (12 Stanton Street, Red Deer).
