HUMBKE Margaret 1926 - 2009 It is with profound sadness that we announce to all who knew her, that Margaret Humbke passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2009 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital at the age of 83 years. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her five children: Bruce (Becky) Humbke of Calgary; Andrew (Loretta) Humbke, Paula (Dallas) McDonald, Loretta Stanley, and Nikki Underwood all of Red Deer. Her memory will be forever cherished by her eleven grandchildren and her thirteen great grandchildren. She will also be missed by her brother, Alfred Schwenk of Camrose and her sisters: Rosie (Arvon) Pritchard and Katharine Dearing all of Wetaskiwin. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Gordon, grandson Charles, brother Jack, sister Mary, and her parents Jacob and Maria Schwenk. Margaret was born at Leibling, Romania. She came to Canada in 1929 and was raised in the Wetaskiwin District and attended school. Margaret and her husband farmed in the Wetaskiwin District until 1969 when they moved to Red Deer. Margaret worked at Michener Centre; caring for the mentally and physically disabled until 1963 when she moved to Charlotte, North Carolina. Margaret moved back to Red Deer and resumed employment at the Michener Centre in 1970. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so on Friday, October 16, 2009 at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 ~ 67A Street, Red Deer, between the hours of 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm. A Funeral Service for the late Margaret Humbke will be held Saturday October 17th, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. from Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 18 Selkirk Blvd., Red Deer with Rev. Don Hennig officiating. Interment will follow in Alto Reste Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Margaret's memory may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association, 5017 - 50 Avenue, Red Deer, T4N 4B2 or the Red Deer Hospital Palliative Care Unit, P.O. Bag 5030, Red Deer, T4N 6R2.
