Margaret was born in Benton Station, Alberta. She grew up on the family farm, leaving as a teenager to complete high school in Oyen. After graduation, Margaret moved to Ponoka where she entered a four year nursing program studying at PMH in Ponoka and the U of A hospital in Edmonton.
In 1949 she graduated as both a Registered Nurse and Psychiatric Nurse and, in December of that year, married Jack Parker. Margaret and Jack lived in Ponoka working and raising their seven children until 1980 when they retired to Vancouver Island. In 2003 they returned to Alberta settling in Red Deer.
Margaret passed away on March 20, 2020 at Westpark Lodge in Red Deer where she had lived for the past five years.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Diana (Paul) Crump, Henry (Sonia) Parker, Helen (Doug) Tucker, Cathy (Bob) West, Lynda (Jerry) Mah, her ten grandchildren and her five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack Parker in 2008, her son-in-law, Grant Edwards in 2009, her grandson Kent West in 2012 and her daughter Fran Edwards in 2019.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
