Marian Paulson the only child of Albert Wellington Wark and Eleanor Jeanette McAsh was born in Tara, Ontario. Her mother passed away at an early age with Marian providing palliative care during her illness and support to her father. Marian grew up in Tara enjoying her many friends and relatives. She was particularly close to her Grandfather Dr. John McAsh and her Aunt Marian and Uncle Art Kincaid. She received her post-secondary education at Northern Business College in Owen Sound, Ontario and taught for one year. It was there she briefly met her future husband, Lloyd Paulson, at a dance for departing servicemen held by the Volunteer Hostess Association. During the war she worked in the Security Department at Defence Industries Ltd. in Ajax, Ontario.
She was married to Lloyd on March 23, 1946 in Innerkip, Ontario shortly after Lloyd's return from three years' service overseas with the Governor Generals Horse Guards. Purchasing her grandfather McAsh's pride and joy a 1936 Master Delux Chevrolet they made their great cross country trek west to Camrose, Alberta where they made their home. Also living in Bawlf, Dinant, Redwater, Enoch and Winterburn, Alberta where Lloyd was employed with Royalite and Imperial Oil Limited (Esso Resources) and finally transferred to Red Deer, Alberta in 1956 where Marian has resided ever since.
Marian was actively involved with the early life, planning and eventual construction of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in West Park serving on boards and committees. She was president of the West Park Home and School Association and secretary to the West Park Community Association. She was also an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion and volunteered for several charities.
Later in life Marian was blessed with a second loving husband John (Jack) Marshall. Together they travelled extensively enjoying each other's company and visiting with their extended families. Being young at heart, Jack kept Marian active and enjoying life's pleasures.
Marian was predeceased by her first husband Lloyd in 1993, daughter Diane Jeanette Taylor in 1995 and her second husband Jack in 2007. She is survived by her son Ron (Donna), six grandchildren Jason (Susan), MariAnn (Peter), Adam (Jessica), David Adam (Melanie), Sarah (Evan), Jodi and ten great grandchildren Liam, Riley, Andrew, Marlee, William, Freya, Konrad, Fu Ning, Ava and Ashlyn.
Donations in Marian's memory may be made to West Park Presbyterian Church, 3628 - 57 Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta T4N 4R5. At Marian's request there will be no funeral service. Marian's life will be remembered and celebrated by her family at a later date.
