Marie Carlson passed away with family at her side at the Red Deer Hospice on Sunday, February 23, 2014. Marie contacted Polio at the age of 6 and spent a lot of her childhood life in hospitals. She managed to graduate from Marion High School in 1965. In May of 1968, she was united in marriage to Eldon Carlson, together they raised a family of four; Gregory (Kathy) of Marwayne, AB, Curtis of Red Deer, AB, Danette (Scott) Bonter of Red Deer, AB, and Christopher (Michelle) of Sylvan Lake, AB. Marie is grandmother to ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Marie and Eldon have lived in Bowden, Rocky Mountain House, Red Deer, and finally settling in Delburne for the last 34 years. A good lover, mother, friend, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was predeceased by brother-in-law Bernard Delorme, sister Delia Cossette, one brother Francis, infant sister Marianne, her parents; Ernest and Marie Bourassa, and father-in-law Lloyd Carlson. Marie is survived by sisters: Cecile Delorme, Philomene (Jerry) Brochu, Marty (Doug) Barker, brother-in-law Cien (Dianna) Cossette, brothers; Marius (Elaine) Bourassa, Rene Bourassa, and Michael (Shelley) Bourassa, sister-in-law Mavis (Art) Gessner, Audrey (Lyle) Carlson, Eileen (Brian) Tranquilla, brothers-in-law; Cal (Cheryl) Carlson, Phillip (Debbie) Carlson, Lorne (Helen) Carlson, and Garnett Carlson. She will be missed by all who knew her. A Prayer Service will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820-45 Street, Red Deer, on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 6 McMillan Avenue, Red Deer, on Friday, February 28, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. It is our wish that in lieu of flowers, please forward memorial contributions on Marie's behalf to the Red Deer Hospice Society, 99 Arnot Avenue, Red Deer, AB, T4R 3S6.
