JOHNSON Marie (nee Skaley) With her two boys at her side, Marie passed away peacefully at the Sturgeon General Hospital in St. Albert on Friday, February 6, 2009. Marie was born January 25, 1924 a daughter for Maggie and Otto Skaley. She lived her 85 years and 12 days in Alberta, mainly in Stettler and the surrounding area. When Len passed on in 1999, they had been married 57 years. They spent many of their years together on the farm and in the Gadsby area and moved to Stettler in 1962. Throughout her career, Marie worked at the hospital, the Heart Haven and the nursing home in Stettler. Marie and Len retired to Red Deer in 1983, a community to which she donated her many talents. One major contribution was dressing hundreds of dolls for the Christmas bureau. Marie was an artist and loved to draw and paint. She was an avid reader and loved to learn. Her greatest joys in life were her babies, grand babies and great grand babies. In 1999, when Len's health failed, they moved to Morinville so Marie could continue to be with him until his passing. Until her death, Marie lived on at Aspen House where she received the best of care and was the "ringer" on the Reach for the Top team! Marie was predeceased by her husband Len, her son Dale and her brother Edgar. She leaves to mourn her children Gerald (Betty)of St. Albert, Lyle (Kathy) of Edmonton, Linda (Dale) of Red Deer and Sandra of Calgary. She also leaves 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren as well as her siblings Grace, Harold, Jack, Art and Shirley, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers or donations, Mom would prefer that you just do a good deed for someone. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 1:00 pm at the Red Deer Funeral Home, 6150 - 67 St. Red Deer.
