KAPPEL Marie Kappel of Innisfail passed away March 31 at the age of 87 years. Born in Denmark she came to Canada with her mother and youngest brother to join their family already in Wetaskiwin. In 1941 she married John and together they built a house in Spruce View to raise their family, later moving to the Arrowhead Ranch in Kevisville. In 1959 they moved to Calgary, then Cochrane where John worked at the sawmill. In 1964 they bought an acreage west of Spruce View, later moving into Spruce View to retire. They then traveled back to Denmark for a long overdue visit with family. Following John's passing, Marie moved into Innisfail and enjoyed more trips to Denmark as well as across Canada and the U.S.A. She is survived by her son Lloyd (Bernadine) of Coalhurst; daughter Doris (Fred) of Red Deer; grandchildren Joanna of Lethbridge, Jorgen (Jennifer) of Medicine Hat, Leann (Sean) of Edmonton, Adam (Tamarea) of Blackfalds. Great grandchildren Kyle, Brandon and Gabriella. She was predeceased by her husband John, brothers and sisters-in-law Paul (Helga) Poulsen, Kristen (Elly) Poulsen, Martin (Ricci) Poulsen, Laurits (Signe) Poulsen, Christian (Myrtle) Poulsen. In honor of Marie's wishes, only a graveside service will be held. The family would like to thank the staff at Rosefield Center C.I. Unit for their compassionate care given during her stay and to Chaplain Lavinia West for the touching service. Also to Metcalf Funeral Chapel for the arrangements.
