December 17, 1939 - June 21, 2021
The writing was in the cards. Mom's days of poker were over. She went to heaven with her casino member cards in her hand.
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Marilyn Fay Borodey on June 21, 2021 at the age of 81.
With five brothers, Marilyn was the only daughter born to William and Katie Koenig on December 17, 1939 in Bluffton, AB.
In 1958, Marilyn became a hairdresser after graduating from Marvel Hairdressing School.
On May 21, 1960, Marilyn married Paul Borodey, and they had three daughters and one son.
Mom loved being around family, friends, and of course, her group of poker players (a second family you could say). She was a lovely and generous person and loved to travel.
Mom had many interests including golfing where she achieved two holes-in-one. She also loved Christmas and anyone was welcome. Year round, Christmas décor adorned her home along with family and friends' pictures.
Marilyn will be lovingly remembered by her children: Brenda Munsters (John P.), Wanda Borodey, Dana (Allan) Friestadt, and Darren (Gail) Borodey; grandchildren who called her "Nana": Bobby-Joe Borodey (Sean), Nicole (Kirby) Munsters-Kaspick, Brandon (Danielle) Borodey, Ajay Friestadt (Coral), and Jared Friestadt (Kassidy); great-grandchildren: Rylan and Turner Kaspick, and Hailee Borodey; brothers Warren and Donald Koenig; and many more relatives.
Marilyn was predeceased by her husband Paul, son-in-law Peter Munsters, and brothers Melvin, Charles, and Tom Koenig.
We believe our mom lived life to the fullest. She is now at peace and will be remembered just the way she was. Everyone who knew her knew she always said it like it was.
Mom, while you look down at us from the white clouds above, we will look up at you from the green felt below while we continue to play your favorite game.
We love you.
