It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Marilyn Reid announce her peaceful passing on October 16,2024 surrounded by her family.
Marilyn was born in Calgary on December 23, 1952 to Lloyd and Jean Meston. Marilyn spent her younger years on the family farm north of Three Hills, Alberta. After completing her nursing school at the Red Deer College in 1976, she traveled to Toronto for a new adventure. It was there she met her soulmate, Robert Reid. They traveled back to Alberta where they married (1981) and settled in the Red Deer area. During that time Marilyn and Robert raised 3 wonderful children. Jennifer Jean Reid-Tenson (Richard), Catherine Glazebrook (Andrew) & Rob Reid (Janelle). From there she was blessed to have 11 grandchildren and 6 step grandchildren whom she treasured with all her heart.
Marilyn was passionate about helping people and worked as a nurse for 48 years. She has worked in all fields of nursing but spent the last 30 years in psychiatry. Marilyn treasured relationship. She had a way of welcoming people into her life and making people feel valued and cared for.
In 2010 she began her battle with cancer but persevered for many years despite chronic pain and then she was finally overcome in her struggle with the debilitating conditions that accumulated against her along the way.
She is survived by her beloved husband, children, grandchildren, sisters Judy Lytle(Dan) and Ruth Meston and mother in law, Nancy Reid.
Please join us in a celebration of life for Marilyn on October 23, 2024 at Bethany Baptist Church, Red Deer, AB at 1pm.
