Marinus BRINK

BRINK Marinus (Max) Feb. 8, 1933 – April 5, 2009 How could a heart that was so filled with love, stop beating? Marinus Brink lost his fight, surrounded by his family on April 5, 2009. Left to cherish his memory is his wife and best friend, Bodil. They had just celebrated 50 years of marriage. His three "favorite" daughters, Solveig (Cam), Myanna (Barry), Karen (Cliff). His 6 grandchildren, (who loved their crazy Grandpa) Kelt (Ariana), Dana, Alissa (Brandon), Kimberly, Bailey, Jenna. He was also lucky to have a great granddaughter Akaelyn. Marinus was born in Skrystrup, Denmark in 1933. He spent his childhood on a farm with his brothers & sisters; Chris, Niels, Hans (deceased), Magnus, Tinne (deceased) and Marie. He met his beautiful wife Bodil in 1957, and realized shortly after, that he had met his one true love. They married on March 14, 1959. Marinus and Bodil moved to Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1966 to begin a new life. Marinus worked in construction for Brink Drywall. To all the guys at work, he became known as Max. His sense of humor and good nature would endure him to many. In 1994, Marinus retired, and he and Bodil moved to Sylvan Lake. They shared 15 wonderful years there together. He would often say that these were some of the best years of his life. He enjoyed golfing, bridge, and once in a while he liked to stop at the casino. Marinus loved making people laugh and he will be fondly remembered for his wonderful sense of humor. Marinus would want us to enjoy the sunshine, be happy and remember him with a smile. Dad don't worry about mom, we will look after her! Thank you to all the wonderful doctors and nurses in Sylvan Lake, Red Deer and Calgary who made Dad's journey easier. A celebration of Marinus's life will be held Thursday April 9, 2009 at 1:00 pm at the Sylvan Lake Legion – 4916 50 Avenue, Sylvan Lake. 403-887-2601. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Heart and Stroke foundation of Alberta. 200, 119-14 Street NW, Calgary AB, T2N 1Z6 www.heartandstroke.ca
