Marjorie Vivian
Marjorie Vivian Staudinger of RR#1, Sylvan Lake died, at the age of 88 years, on December 19, 2009 at Bethany Care Centre, Sylvan Lake, where she had lived since September 2003. She was born at home on August 12, 1921, the second of 11 children to Albert and Vivian Matson of Brush Prairie, WA. She married Helge Staudinger (of Sylvan Lake). at Hockinson, WA. on May 31, 1941 and they were married 64 years before Helge died. Helge and Marj established their home, raised 8 children, and farmed at Marianne until 1962. Then they acquired some raw land in the Gimlet District NW of Eckville. Gradually they developed this farm and in 1969 built a new home there. They returned to Marianne in 1977 and built another new home on the original Alex Staudinger homestead where Helge had been born. Marg is survived and loved by 7 children, Carmen and Richard Juuti of Bentley AB; Russell and Susie Staudinger of Battle Ground WA, Harvey and Lois Staudinger of Sylvan Lake, Richard and Karina Staudinger of Alix AB, Louise and Wilfred Butterfly of Sylvan Lake, George and Beth Staudinger of Leslieville AB. and SueAnn and Ken Brzak of Stony Plain, AB; 29 grandchildren, Shane (Patti) Juuti, Shelley (Merle) Olin, Karen (Curtis) Lampinen, Kimberly (Mike) Hilman, Timothy Juuti; Ronda (Elroy) Arrunetigui, Kristen (George) Adkins, Wendy (Jay) Lepisto, Kim (Dusty) Dukatz, Tonya (Wolfgang) Pointecker, Bethany (Brian ) Wisely, Stephen Staudinger; Stewart (Meryem) Staudinger, Riva (Zoe') Jacobs, Sarah Chad) Becher, Andrea Staudinger; Amanda (Phil) Bisila, Adam, Melita, Clare and Isaac Butterfly; Rebecca (Alex) Johnson, Rachel (Greg) Somero, Jordan (Reidun) Staudinger, Amy (Noah) Wiggans; Kevin Brzak, Heather (Fiore) Marrelli, Stephanie (Ryan) Pomedli, Keith (Kyung) Brzak: 72 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren: one sister Rhoda (Jim) Olin of Vanderhoof, BC.; two brothers, Jim (Doris) Matson and Chuck (Sharon) Matson, two sisters-in-law, Penny Matson and Clara Matson, and one brother-in-law Orville West all of Battle Ground WA.; Helge's sisters, Helvi Anderson of Apple Valley MN and Hedvi (Victor) McCallum of Sylvan Lake and numerous extended family on both the Matson and Staudinger sides. Marj was predeceased by her husband Helge (2005), son Clifford (1989); three grandchildren Kenneth Juuti (1968), Susan and Douglas Staudinger (1999); four brothers, Wesley (1996) and wife Muriel (Bolich) Matson (1980), Lewis (2008), Lee (2009), and wife Jean (Hilman) Matson(1991), Donald (2004); three sisters, Carol (2005) and husband Harry Hilman (2005), Betty West (2004), Mary (2007) and husband Ted Kandoll (2008); Helge's two brothers, Arvo (1915) and Walter (1962) and sister Elna (1984). Funeral Services for the late Marjorie V. Staudinger will be held at the Eckville Community Centre on Wednesday December 30, 2009 at 1:00. Visitation will be Tuesday evening, 5 - 8 p.m. at the Apostolic Lutheran Church, SW of Sylvan Lake.
