On December 13, 2023 Marlene Pixley of Penticton, BC passed on to be with the Lord at Moog and Friends Hospice House. Marlene was born on January 11, 1944 to Elmer and Clary Nelson in Wetaskiwin, AB. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Lee Pixley of Penticton; her sons, Erik Norgaard and Karl Norgaard; stepdaughters, Leah Streight and Andrea Pixley; brother, Ken; and her long time friend, Liz Otway. She was predeceased by her parents and sister, Joanne Freisen.

Marlene was a devoted artist and had many hobbies that included stained glass, quilting, wine making, painting and card making. Lee and Marlene's first home was on the farm south east of Red Deer where they spent a great deal of time remodeling the home. It was hard work, but Marlene was always the optimist and knew it was going to turn out fine and it did.

Traveling was a great pleasure for Marlene. After selling the farm they purchased a motor home and traveled in it for seven years. Their journeys took them all across Canada more than once, about forty US states and even as far north as Yellowknife. Lee and Marlene went on six cruises, traveled to Europe and twice to China. After selling the motor home they purchased a condo in Penticton and a winter home in Yuma. In total over 20 years was spent wintering in Yuma. Numerous trips were also made to different parts of Mexico.

Marlene was a very kind and generous person. She was involved with TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) for 45 years. She also served in the Board of Cherry Lane Towers until she became too ill to continue.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at 1:00 p.m. on January 6, 2024 at Penticton Alliance Church, 197 Brandon Avenue, Penticton.

A Graveside Service will be held for family and friends on Saturday, May 4, at the Horn Hill cemetery at 1 PM. Horn Hill cemetery is situated on Hwy 42, 3km east of Hwy 2 on Hwy 42 (south of Red Deer exit 384 to Pine Lake). Coffee and sandwiches will be served at the Moose Lodge after the service.
