Having a congenital heart defect, Mars showed great endurance and perseverance to 'beat the odds' on numerous occasions through complex heart surgeries and lived longer than was ever expected. He was born in Lincoln City, Oregon January 22, 1976. After graduating from Delburne School and Olds College, Mars worked over 16 years with the Delburne Foundry. He was passionate about his friendships and enjoyed "coffee'n" with his buddies, worldwide traveling, hunting, horseback riding, exploring new cuisines, and learning about different cultures. Mars is survived by his mother, Julie Macrae, step-father Bill Macrae, sisters: Venus Crump (Kirk Hutchison), Betty Bellerive (Greg), Uilani Ballay (Richard), Peggy Doggett (Steve), Annie Drohan (Bryce), nephews and nieces Wesley, Mae, Lillian, Sophie and Thurston. Mars is also lovingly remembered by his fiancée Maria, numerous friends and relatives, and his "family" of doctors and healthcare workers at the Mazankowski Heart Institute. Mars was predeceased by his father Phil in 1996. There will be a private family gathering to celebrate his life.
