GILBERT Martin Mathias Gilbert passed away suddenly at the age of 57 years. Martin leaves to mourn with his passing, his wife, Janet, his three children, Carrie Piotrowski of Calgary, Shannon and Jared Gilbert of Red Deer. He will also be lovingly remembered and will be greatly missed by his mother, Gladys Petersen (Merv), his sisters, Marilyn McCaig (Wayne), Donna Gilbert, Carolin Petersen and Sherri Brandsma (Mike) and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. Martin was born in Canmore in 1952 where he lived his first 10 years and later the family moved to the Delburne area (Woodlake). Martin worked at various jobs until he finally settled into his career of owning/operating his own trucking business. When Martin wasn't working he enjoyed the company of his dogs and his horses, watching Western movies, passionate conversations and laughing with his friends. Martin was predeceased by his brother, Tom in 2004, his father, Alvin and numerous aunts and uncles. There will be no funeral service at Martin's request. A celebration of his life will be held at his parent's home, 63 Howarth Street, Red Deer on Sunday, August 30, 2009 from 2 to 4 p.m. for family and friends.
