Unselfconscious and self assured, he pioneered public and patient education, and fought tobacco companies about health risks of smoking. Avid camper who trailered his family coast to coast. Loved to captain his home-made pontoon boat. Loved a good story or a practical joke. More than anything a vigorous Sunday dinner debate over science, politics, philosophy or religion would bring that famous glint to his eye. A private Committal Service will be conducted Thursday August 6, 2009 followed by a Memorial Service at St. John’s Episcopal Church Roanoke, Virginia. A Celebration of Life will be held August 7th, 2009 in Roanoke. Contact dclougheed@yahoo.com.
