It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Elizabeth Douglas. Mary spent her last days at home, surrounded by her loving family and her beloved cat.
Mary was born in Hillsdown, in her grandparent's log cabin, to the proud parents Jennie and Robert Davidson on March 20, 1934. She grew up on the family farm in Cumberland. She was the eldest of six children; James, Helen, Roberta, Alex and Cathy. All of whom remained a big part of her life.
Mary was one of the first founding members of the Delburne 4-H Beef Club. She graduated from Red Deer Composite High. Mary then went onto the Alberta College in Edmonton where she received a Diploma in Office Administration.
Marry married Jimmy Douglas on June 25, 1955. They had a life together for 64 years. Mary was very active with the dairy and farm life. She was a loving wife and mother, and her greatest joy was her family.
Mary will be lovingly remembered by; her husband Jimmy, her children RoseMarie (Rick), Beth (Dave), Jimmy (Belinda), Billy (Lynn). As well as nine grandchildren; Allison (Kyle) Raher, Patrick (Stephanie) Webb, Calvin (Joy) Douglas, Douglas and Troy Grosul, Lyndsey, Rayel, Brandon and Megan Douglas. Mary also had six great-grandchildren; Cheyanne, Brannagh and Paisley Douglas, Ben and Lauren Raher and Hanna Webb. Mary had a large extended family and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 11 Bennett Street, Red Deer, Alberta on June 4, 2019 at 1pm. Interment will follow at the Alta Reste Cemetery. Lunch will follow at the Cumberland Community Hall, 37442 - Range Rd. 244, Red Deer County at 3 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation in Mary's memory.
