MORRISON Mary Helen Morrison of Red Deer, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Nursing Home on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the age of 90 years. She was born on March 18, 1919 in Scotland. Mary started out as a teacher in a one room school house with her sister Janet and later moved to Red Deer with her parents and became the first female principal in Alberta. She was very involved with teachers union in Red Deer as well on the Beta Signa Phi, Eastern Star and other Sorority's. Mary enjoyed playing baseball as a pitcher for the Morrin Flyers. She is survived by a brother, Jack (Betty) Morrison of Calgary, Alberta, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Mary was predeceased by her sisters, Janet Fiske, Mable Cole and Edith Wise. A Celebration of Mary's life will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820 - 45 Street, Red Deer on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Red Deer Cemetery. Cremation in care of Central Alberta Crematorium Ltd., Red Deer, Alberta. Donations in Mary's honor may be made directly to the charity of the donor's choice.
