Mary passed through the pearly gates on Jan.16/19 after suffering a stroke.

She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Curtiss Lund.

Mary was the oldest of eight children.

She was predeceased by her father Bill Simpson, and her brother Robert (Donna).

She is survived by her mother Eleanor and six siblings: Pat (Larry) Ross, Gord (Laurie), Fred (Joanne), Betty Daily, Ken (Mona), and Les (Carol), as well as many special nieces and nephews, other caring relatives and many friends.

Mary was born on July 23, 1953 in Drumheller, AB. She moved to Red Deer with her family in 1965. After finishing high school Mary worked in various hardware stores as a clerk and then worked at The Brick in janitorial services.

Mary found her true calling when she started working in both the Public and Catholic schools as an Educational Assistant. The school children loved Mary and Mary loved helping the children to achieve their full potential. Mary volunteered many years at the Westerner and for the Club 55+ Bowling League. Through her life, Mary loved Curtiss and their dogs, enjoyed reading, travelling, photography, camping, hiking, sewing, baking and classic car showing and cruising.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Blackfalds Community Centre, 4810 Womacks Rd, Blackfalds, on Saturday, Feb. 2/19 at 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Mary's memory to the Central Alberta Humane Society (Red Deer SPCA), 4505 77 St., Red Deer, or to any charity of their choice.
