Mary WHILLIER

WHILLIER (nee GANT) Mary Emily Whillier passed away in the Ponoka Hospital & Care Center on January 26, 2005 at the age of 93 years, 11 months. She was born on the homestead four miles west of Gilby, Alberta on February 20, 1911. She spent her first 58 years within a mile of her birthplace. In 1929, Mary was united in marriage to Reg Whillier in Lacombe and together they farmed the land Reg had purchased from his father next door to the Gants. Mary and Reg retired from farming in 1969 and moved to Lacombe in 1970. To mourn her loss she leaves 3 sons, Don (Ruth) of Slave Lake, Dave (Oda) of Edmonton, Tom (Jean) of Grande Prairie; 2 daughters, Dorothy of Ponoka, Shirley (Ernie) Kruetzfeld of Westerose, AB; and son-in-law, James McNeil of Ponoka. She also leaves 18 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; 2 sisters, Ellen Gant of Red Deer and Lorena Drummond of Innisfail; 1 brother, Glen Gant of Kelowna, B.C.; as well as several nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her mother, Celeste Gant in 1913; her father, Marlee Gant in 1976; her step-mother, Susanna Gant in 1989; her loving husband of 68 years in 1998; as well as her daughter, Betty McNeil in 1998; and by 1 sister and 3 brothers. Funeral services will be held from Wilson's Funeral Chapel, 6120 Highway 2A, Lacombe, AB. on Monday, January 31, 2005 at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Lacombe.
