McINNIS

June 22, 2006

McINNIS (nee: Von Holwede) It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, Linda Gail McInnis on Saturday, June 17, 2006 with her family by her side. Linda was born on August 12, 1945 in Turtleford, Saskatchewan to Askan and Eva Von Holwede. After graduating from high school, Linda went on to the University of Saskatchewan where she obtained her Bachelor of Education degree in 1966. From there, she went to teach mathematics in Grande Prairie, Calgary and Red Deer. Her high level of professionalism and infectious personality made her a mainstay at Red Deer College where she taught mathematics until her diagnosis with cancer in 2001. A woman with relentless spirit, she devoted her remaining years to her life's passions: Gardening, cooking, golf, bridge and being a grandmother to her 3 grandchildren. She touched the lives of many family, friends, co- workers and students over the years and will always be remembered for her sharp wit and terrific sense of humour. Linda leaves us to cherish her memory, her children Marni (Ian) Bettenson, Jeff (Sherry) McInnis; Three grandchildren, Lauren and Hayden Bettenson and Keith McInnis. She also leaves to cherish her memory her mother Eva Von Holwede, her brothers Hugh (Irene) Von Holwede, Jim (Dorothy) Von Holwede. Linda is also survived by our dad Jerry McInnis, sisters in law Linda Campbell (Bruce Wells), Wanda (Chuck) Kingdom, Brenda (Lantry) Vaughan, her mother in law Dorothy McInnis, many nieces and nephews, her best friends Ron and Sylvia Deines and Randy and Kathleen Nelson. She will also be greatly missed by her dog Mac. Linda is predeceased by her father Askan Von Holwede and her father in law Fred McInnis. Mom's request was to remember her life by having a public "Rave and Roast" where stories and memories would be shared amongst her family and friends which will be held at the Poplar Ridge Hall, Poplar Ridge, Red Deer County, Alberta on Friday, June 23, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Special thanks to Dr. Heisler, Dr. Graham, Dr. Thiessen and all the nurses on the Palliative Care unit at the Red Deer Regional Hospital.
