McKEAGE, Malvin Malvin (Mal) McKeage of Red Deer passed away peacefully on October 14, 2004 at the age of 81 years. Mal was born on May 23, 1923 in Blackie, Alberta and attended school at Dinton and at Blackie, Alberta. In the spring of 1943, he joined the Navy and served as an able seaman until his discharge in November, 1945. On June 20, 1945 in Calgary, Alberta, where Mal married Mildred Olson. He worked in the oil industry from 1948 until his early retirement in 1985.Mal was an avid community supporter and volunteered for several organizations thoughout Red Deer and area. He would never refuse anyone that had a request for his help. From 1957, he was an enthusiastic member of the Elks Club and carried a lifetime membership. With his great leadership skills, he went through all the chairs including the Exalted Ruler. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 58 years.A loving, caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Mal is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mildred (Millie), sons Randy (Pat) of Bonanza, Alberta, Greg of Red Deer, daughters Linda (Larry) Schrum of Edmonton, Sheralyn Donaghy of Springbrook and Carol McKeage of Red Deer, 10 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. His memory will also be cherished by brother-in-law Don Wiley of Guelph, Ontario, sister-in-law Caroline McKeage of Victoria, BC and many nieces, nephews and extended family.Mal was predeceased by his parents John and Hattie, brothers Ed and Vernon McKeage, sisters Vivian Blondahl and Ferne Wiley.Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Wednesday, October 20th from 11:00 am to 12:50 pm at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, October 20th with Pastor Bob Shields officiating in the Chapel of Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287-67 A Street (on Taylor Drive, one block north of 67 Street), Red Deer, Alberta.Memorial tributes may be made to Stars Air Ambulance, 1441 Aviation Park, N.E.
