April 18, 1985 - August 22, 2019
It is with great sadness that we, Bob Blair and my wife Yvonne, from Penhold, lost a very dear caregiver on August 22, 2019 in a tragic motor vehicle accident. Melanie was born in the Philippines on April 18, 1985. She graduated with a nursing degree. After practicing in the Philippines she moved to Oman where she continued her work as a nurse for another 3 1⁄2 years. On February 4, 2017 she came to work with me as a full time live-in-caregiver and to start a better life for herself in Canada. Melanie was a true caregiver in many ways. She was a kind, compassionate and professional person in all her personal and professional obligations. Her duties with myself were carried out above and beyond the requirements of her job. She was the main financial provider for her mother and father in the Philippines to support their health conditions and daily medication costs.
We have come to know and appreciate Melanie not just as my caregiver but as a true friend and daughter. Her warm caring smile, love for life, friends and family, and that underlying whit has left a huge void in our lives. All those who were blessed to have met and knew her have lost a great lady. She was an angel in our lives and will be deeply missed.
Melanie is predeceased by one brother, survived by her Mother and Father, two Sisters, numerous Aunties and Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Friends. A viewing will be at Alternatives Funeral and Crematorium 1-6828 50 Ave, 12:30 - 2:30 September 3rd followed by a celebration of life at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 6 McMillan Ave, Red Deer 3:00. A ca.gofundme.com account titled "Love & Support for Lanie Reyes" has been set up to help with costs of funeral and return of Melanie's body to the Philippines to be laid to rest with her family.
