Melvin Luther (Mel)

Mel passed away peacefully at the Kipnes Centre for Veterans, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Alice; daughter, Norma (Rick) Evans; grandchildren; Sean (Kristina) Evans and Jackie (Mike) Boivin; great-grandchildren; Reid, Madelyn, Chase and Olivia; brother, Ray (Gladys) of Red Deer; sister-in-law, Christina of Toronto, also numerous other relatives in Canada and England. Mel was born in Stettler, AB, served with the Calgary Highlanders in W.W.II. Following the war he returned to Mirror where he was employed by the CNR for 38 years. He retired to Fort Saskatchewan to be close to his family. Mel was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for more than 65 years. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 1:00 pm at St. George's Anglican Church, 10029-99 Avenue, Fort Saskatchewan. Memorial donations in memory of Mel may be made to Kipnes Centre for Veterans or St. George's Anglican Church. Interment and reception to be held on May 14, 2011 in Mirror, Alberta.
