Merrill SIZER

SIZER Merrill Stephen Sizer, age 59 died unexpectedly on February 22, 2009 in Red Deer, Alberta. Merrill was born August 30, 1949 in Biggar, Saskatchewan, the youngest son of Stephen and Marguerite Sizer. He was raised on the family farm until the family moved to Makwa, Saskatchewan in 1961. Merrill took his schooling in Makwa then went to work for Manitoba Hydro. He was working in The Pas, Manitoba when he met Darlene. They were married in 1971 and moved to Red Deer in 1976. Merrill was a heavy duty mechanic by trade and worked for R. Angus in Red Deer for 7 years. He then started his own mechanics business in Penhold with his friend Dan Malinowski. Merrill then held various sales positions within the county of Red Deer, including several years as a Mac Tools distributor. Most recently he was working in the oilfield with CP Water Hauling. Merrill was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and was planning a motorcycle trip to the US this summer. He was also an inventor, enjoyed to hunt, fish and camp with both his father-in-law Leon and many of his friends, and was a great lover of the outdoors. Merrill enjoyed being a grandfather to Angus, who loved his "motorcycle Grandpa". Merrill is survived by his wife Darlene, daughters Kelly Sizer of Edmonton and Krista (Andrew) Henry and grandson Angus of Victoria, brother Bruce (Wilma) Sizer, mother-in-law Doris Britsky of Lacombe, brothers-in-law Jack (Deb) Britsky and Rae Britsky of Manitoba, Don (Deb) Brtitsky of Bearspaw, as well as many nieces and nephews. Merrill was predeceased by his father Stephen, mother Marguerite, father-in-law Leon and nephew Tyson. Merrill will be missed by his family and all who knew him. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. According to his wishes, a celebration of Merrill's life will be held at Poplar Ridge Community Centre on Saturday Feb 28 at 2 PM. The Centre is located by traveling west on Hwy 11 to RR 283, then north for 3 kms.
