HAMMOND Michael Edward Michael "Mike" Hammond passed away peacefully, with his family at his side, on May 22, 2009 at the young age of 46 years. He was born on April 14, 1963 in Red Deer. Mike graduated from Lindsay Thurber High School, and went on to work at the Red Deer Regional Hospital for over 25 years. He will be remembered for his incessant kindness, acceptance of others and wonderful sense of humour. Mike enjoyed time "Out West" with cousins and friends, and was happiest outdoors surrounded by nature. Mike's warm smile and contagious laugh will be sadly missed by all who knew him. The family would like to thank the ICU and Unit 32 staff at RDRH for their wonderful care and kindness. Mike will be sadly missed by his parents, Edward and Arlene Hammond of Rocky Mountain House, two younger sisters Selina and Teresa (Pat) Penner, two nephews Jonah and Jordan Penner, all of Red Deer and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. A Celebration of Life for the Late Michael "Mike" Hammond will be held from the Chapel of the Rocky Funeral Home, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 2:00 P.M., with Mrs. Laurie Wade officiating. Inurnment to follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Rocky Mountain House. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions in Mike's memory may be made to the Rocky Mountain House General Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
