Michael passed away peacefully on March 8 in Sylvan Lake, Alberta. Michael, a loving husband, father and grandfather, is survived by his wife Emily, children Patrick, Ronald (Susan), Catherine and grandchildren Devon, Michael, Kelly, Justine, Renee, Nicolette and Austin. He was predeceased by his parents and all of his brothers and sisters. Michael was a WWII veteran. Emily, a country school teacher, stole Michael's heart and they married in 1946. They started their life together with a welding/repair business in Hyas, and then Rama, Saskatchewan. They moved to Calgary in 1957, where Michael was employed with the University of Calgary in the Purchasing Department before retiring in 1975 and moving to Sylvan Lake, Alberta in 1990. Michael and Emily were also owners of a 12 suite apartment building for many years. Michael and Emily's passion was world travel and they reached their dream of visiting the seven wonders of the world on every continent. Both were very active in the church and involved with various volunteer groups. Michael enjoyed fishing, camping, and boating. He could usually be found with his dog by his side while mushroom hunting, berry picking or in the garage repairing something and improving on designs. He will be dearly missed. A Prayer Vigil for Michael will be held at the Our Lady Of The Assumption Catholic Church, Sylvan Lake on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 7:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial for Michael will be celebrated at the Our Lady Of The Assumption Catholic Church, Sylvan Lake on Friday, March 14, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. with interment to follow in the Sylvan Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Our Lady of Victory Camp at Bentley Alberta.
