It is with heavy hearts that the family of Miss Ruth "Auntie Bo" Tomalty, announce her peaceful passing on Monday, November 9th, 2009 at Bethany Collegeside, at the age of 86 years. Ruth is survived by her brother Len Tomalty of Red Deer, and her three sisters-in-law; Shirley Tomalty of Rocky Mountain House, Verna Tomalty, and Carrol Tomalty, both of Red Deer. Her memory will also be cherished by her numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by her parents John and Edith, her sister Margaret Hicks, and her brothers Elmer, Harold, Ross, and Ralph; her three sisters-in-law: Les Tomlaty, Ursel Tomalty, and Norma Tomlaty; and her brother-in-law Hawton Hicks and her nephew Greg Tomalty. Ruth was born in Hoosier, Saskatchewan May 30th, 1923. She took her early schooling at the Waskasoo school and completed her high schooling in Red Deer. She worked at Red Deer Mutual Telephone Company, MacLeod's Hardware, and then worked in the dietary services department of the Red Deer Hospital until her retirement in 1988. Her family moved to the Red Deer area in the fall of 1937, and lived on the family farm until 1997 when she moved into Red Deer. She resided at the West Park Nursing Home, and then the Bethany Collegeside. A Celebration of Life Service for the late Ruth Tomalty will be held Saturday November 14th, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Balmoral Bible Chapel, 55th Street and Rutherford Drive, Red Deer, AB. with Bob Shorten officiating. Private interment will be held at Alto Reste Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial tributes in Ruth's name may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation #101, 5208 - 53rd Avenue, Red Deer, AB , T4N 5K2. The family wishes to thank the staff of West Park Nursing Home and Bethany Collegeside for their compassionate care, and a special thank you to her loving niece Sandra Rosentreter for the loving care she provided to Ruth over the past few years. In living memory of Miss Ruth Tomalty a tree will be planted in the Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium Memorial Tree Park in the Red Deer County, AB. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium.
