1930 - 2014

Mr. Terry R. Green of Red Deer passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Friday, May 16, 2014 at the age of 84 after a long battle with Parkinson's and C.O.P.D. Terry was born in Winnipeg, grew up in Saskatoon and came to Red Deer in 1955 with his wife Kay shortly after they were married. Terry was a member of the first Saskatoon Hilltops football team and a life member of the Kinsmen Club. Through the years, Terry owned and operated several small businesses in Red Deer: Culligan Soft Water, Grandma Lee's Bakery, Let's Recycle, and (who can forget) Funland Arcade to name a few. He was an avid Sask. Roughriders fan, refereed minor, high school and junior football. Terry served on several boards, volunteered at the Red Deer Food bank and delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. Terry received the Queen's Golden Jubilee medal in 2002 for his contribution to the community of Red Deer. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 58 years, Kay; children Kathryn (Rob) Bayne, Jim (Lucy Beck) Green, Tara Hammond (Linda Jalbert); grandchildren Kathryn Koebel, Michelle (Troy) Zacharias, Nathan Hammond, Aidan Green; great grandchildren Pyper, London, Justice and Jersey Zacharias; Rob Bayne's sons Michael (Kristy) and Trevor (Angela); sisters in-law Clarice Kremer and Alice Vest. Terry was predeceased by his parents George and Ettie Green; in-laws Leon and Katie Lema, Harry and Irene Lema, Joffre Kremer, Peter Vest and Theresa and Alvain Dhoedt. Many thanks to Dr. Cooper, Dr. Hopfner, Penny Grey and all who cared for Terry on Unit 22. Thank you as well to family and friends for your love and support. A Celebration of Terry's life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, 2810 Bremner Ave, Red Deer, on June 28, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Red Deer Food Bank Society, 12-7429 49 Ave, Red Deer AB T4P 1N2 or to the Red Deer & District S.P.C.A., 4505 - 77 Street, Red Deer AB T4P 2J1.
