MUNRO (Wilson) 1918 - 2009 Mrs. Dagmar Margaret Munro (previously Wilson, nee Anderson) of Red Deer, passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Hospice Society on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at the age of 91 years. Dagmar was born on January 29, 1918 on the family farm at Three Hills, Alberta. She attended Mt. Vernon School and worked for neighbors before marrying Roland Wilson on November 12, 1935. They started farming south east of Three Hills before moving to the farm near Lacombe. In 1945, they moved to Drumheller before returning to farm north of Carbon. In 1951 the family moved to Red Deer. Dagmar worked for Don Ewing's Laundry on Gaetz Avenue before going into partnership in the Meat Markets at both the Uptown & Mayfair Grocery stores. After selling her half of the business, Dagmar worked in the sewing room at the Michener Centre for 25 years until her retirement as supervisor in 1983. When Roland passed away in 1971, Dagmar married John Munro on December 25, 1975. Dagmar enjoyed cooking for friends & family which often involved up to 29 for dinner. She loved playing cards (including trips to casinos), dancing and spending time with her grandchildren and especially taking them camping and fishing. She was also a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1460 of Red Deer. Up until the last 3 weeks, Dagmar enjoyed the residents, staff and care at Club Sierra. Dagmar is survived by her daughter, Norma (Ed) Edl of Red Deer, her son, Larry (Karyne) Wilson of Stettler, eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and a brother, Lloyd (Nancy) Anderson of Penticton, sisters-in-laws, Martha Anderson of Calgary, Eileen Anderson of Penticton and Dora Anderson of Drayton Valley. Also left to cherish Dagmar's memory are her two step daughters, May Munro of St. Paul and June Munro of Richmond as well as two step sons, Dan (Lisa) Munro and Fred Munro, both of Lacombe, sister-in-law, Katherine Smith and brother-in-laws, Dave (Dorothy) Munro, Lloyd (Blanche) Munro and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Andrew Anderson and mother, Jenny Stanley, her husband's Roland Wilson and John Munro, son, Raymond, daughter-in-laws, Shirley and Mary, her brothers, Ben, Len, Frank and Roy along with her sisters Myrtle Jasmin, Ruth Hohn and Elsa Payne. She was also predeceased by step children Pearl Munro and Naomi English.
