SMYTHE, Murray Gardner

April 24, 1950 - March 28, 2017

It is with deep sorrow and loving memories that we say goodbye to a very dear husband, brother, uncle and friend to so many.

Murray was born in Medicine Hat on April 24, 1950. He passed away peacefully at our summer home at Kootenay Lakes, B.C. on March 28, 2017.

Murray attended school in Calgary and Lacombe, Alberta. After graduating from high school, Murray joined the Calgary Police Service where he served for 10 years. He then made the decision to return to Lacombe to begin his career with UFA where he developed a very successful business serving the communities of Lacombe, Ponoka and surrounding areas for over 35 years.

Murray was a community man and was always willing to help where ever he was needed.

Murray loved both his homes in Lacombe and at Kootenay Lakes where he pursued his passion for boating as well as motorcycles and ATVing.

Murray truly had a compassion for animals and had a wonderful connection with his special friend, Bud who was always by his side.

Murray is survived by his wife Cheryl, his brother Grant Smythe, his cousin Michelle Russell ( Graham), as well as numerous cousins in Alberta and British Columbia and nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his Dad, Stanley and his Mom, Donalda ( Donna) as well as his father and mother-in-law, John and Betty Roebuck of Vulcan, Alberta.

A Celebration of Murray's Life will be held from the Lacombe Memorial Center, Lacombe, AB. on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 1:00 PM. If friends desire memorial contributions may be made to STARS, 1441, Aviation Park N.E., Calgary, AB. T2E 8M7 or to the SPCA, 4505-77 St., Red Deer, AB. T4P 2J1.
