Myrtle JACKSON

August 17, 2005

JACKSON Myrtle Alice Jackson of Lacombe passed away at the Lacombe Hospital on Friday, August 12, 2005 at the age of 86 years. Myrtle was born on November 21, 1918 at Burdett, Alberta. She was the daughter of Joseph and Alice Sandy, second youngest in an active family of seven children - three boys and four girls, all of whom have predeceased her. She spent much of her young life in the Lethbridge area, where she always had a love of farm life. In 1938, she married Thomas Walker, and this union was blessed with two children, Corrine and Dennis. When her husband died in 1954, after a long battle with cancer, Myrtle met the greatest challenge of her life with courage and determination. She was a single parent with two dependent children, faced with embarking on a career in the workforce. She went back to school, and completed a secretarial and bookkeeping course. Her years spent working at the Lethbridge Municipal Hospital and the Lethbridge Dominion Research Station were busy, but very rewarding. In 1958 she married John Jackson and moved to Sunnyvale, California where they resided until retirement in 1974. The next few years were spent in Kelowna, British Columbia, enjoying the beautiful fruit growing area. In 1990, after John passed away, Myrtle moved to Red Deer and spent two years there before moving to Lacombe. She took great pride in the home she purchased, and was very happy there; ill health necessitated a move to the Lacombe Senior Citizen's Lodge in July, 2002. Myrtle will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered as a strong, caring woman with a great respect for knowledge and education. She leaves to mourn her loss; her daughter, Corrine (Ted) Lembicz; grandson Todd (Chantelle) Lembicz, great grandchildren Thoren and Conlen, all of Lacombe, Alberta; her son Dennis (Patricia) Walker of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren Douglas Walker of Phoenix, Shelly (Dan) Dillon, and great grandchildren Sarah, Jacob, Caleb, all of Athens, Tennessee; Teri (Doug) Amos and great grandchildren Chelsi, Katie, Johnathon of Hanover, Pennsylvania; as well as several nieces and nephews. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joy of her life, and a constant source of pride. A Celebration of Myrtle's life will be held at Wilson's Funeral Chapel, 6120 Highway 2A, Lacombe, Alberta on Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Lacombe, Alberta.
