THORBURN

Neil Patrick

July 14, 1956 - June 19, 2014

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Neil Thorburn. Neil left this life too soon at the age of 57. Neil was born and raised in Abbey, Saskatchewan, son of John and Elda Thorburn. He spent his childhood and youth on the farm with his six brothers and two sisters. On the farm, Neil grew to be a hard worker at a very young age, a quality that he never lost and for which he was always admired throughout his life. Neil demonstrated his strong independence early in his life by entering the work force, first with CP Rail and later in the oil fields. Neil spent a few years working overseas in the oil industry where he enjoyed travelling throughout Europe. When he returned to Canada, Neil made his life in Alberta. Neil's greatest joy was his wife, Ellaine, who predeceased him in 2011. He loved children and both spoiled and teased them. He derived great pleasure from being outdoors and loved working in his yard and garden. Neil had a huge heart and will always be remembered for his willingness to help others. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Alberta Cancer Foundation. Family and friends are invited to join us in remembering Neil at 2 o'clock on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Neil's acreage.
