GLOVER Nettie 1917 – 2008 Mrs. Nettie Glover of Red Deer, beloved wife of the late Mr. Stan Glover, passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Friday, November 7, 2008 at the age of 90 years. Nettie was born at Red Deer, Alberta on December 23, 1917 and was raised in the Valley Center District east of Red Deer. It was here that Nettie attended the Valley Center school and church. On November 6, 1940, Nettie married Stan Glover of Hillsdown district and together they settled in the Willowdale district on the Tom Gummow farm. In 1947 they purchased the Archie Gummow farm in the Willowdale District and then in 1990 they retired to Red Deer. Nettie was a member of the Zion Presbyterian Church and the W.M.S. of the church. She enjoyed gardening, curling, was an avid knitter and cross stitching. Many family and friends were fortunate to have a picture of Nettie's craft work in their homes. Nettie is survived by her five daughters, Helen (Harley) de Bruyckere of Powell River, British Columbia, Shirley King of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Judy (Grant) Puzey of Red Deer, Alberta, Carol (Len) Tisdale of Blackfalds, Alberta, Sharon Housman of Sylvan Lake, Alberta and one son Bob ( Mona) Glover of Eckville, Alberta. She will also be lovingly remembered by her nineteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Tottie Powell of Red Deer, Alberta and Violet Stannard of Calgary, Alberta as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Stan (1999); parents Chris and Gerturde Reay; five brothers Chris, Wesley, Milton, Ronald, Charlie; three sisters, Hazel Mitchell, Emily Forgues, Jennie Shields and three brother-in-laws, Stan Powell, Jim Shields and Ernie Stannard. The family would like to give a special THANK YOU to the Davenport Nursing Home and Drs. Boake and Tillier. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820-45 Street, Red Deer. A Memorial Service for the late Mrs. Nettie Glover will be held at the Knox Presbyterian Church, 4718 Ross Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Private interment will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Alto-Reste Cemetery on Wednesday, November 12, 2008.
