LAIRD, Norma W. LAIRD,

Mrs. Norma W. Laird, beloved wife of the late Mr. Clair Laird of Red Deer, passed away after a brief illness at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at the age of 88 years. Norma was born on June 17, 1916 at Welwyn, Saskatchewan. Norma was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be very deeply missed by her family. Norma was a very active and involved person within her community. She worked at Woolco and was a greeter at Walmart up until the age of 82. Norma had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. She loved all the arts and especially enjoyed the Theatre. As well, she volunteered her time at the Museum and was a longtime member of The Royal Purple Lodge No. 21 and the Eastern Star, Venus Chapter No. 2. She also had a love of sports and particularly loved football. Norma will be very sadly missed but forever loved and cherished in the hearts of her family and dear friends. Norma leaves to mourn her loss, her son, Stuart (Jan) Laird of Calgary, Alberta, daughter, Margaret (Frank) Marrazzo of Beaumont, Alberta, daughter, Kathy (Joe) Ure, also of Beaumont, daughter, Clarice (Cy) Trudel of Stony Plain, Alberta, daughter-in-law, Marj Laird of Sherwood Park, Alberta, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will also be sadly missed by her special friend, Shirley Skinner of Red Deer and her brother, Buzz (Betty) McGibney of White Rock, British Columbia, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Norma was predeceased by her beloved husband, Clair Laird, a son, Wayne Laird, a brother, Pud McGibney and a sister, Agnes Stevenson. A Celebration of Norma's Life will be held at Sunnybrook United Church, 12 Stanton Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Monday, January 10, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. with The Reverend Paul Mullen officiating. Cremation entrusted to Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
