Norma MURPHY

MURPHY Norma (Nonie) Mary Murphy, beloved wife of Frank Murphy, passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on February 9, 2005 at the age of 84 years. Nonie was born in Craigmyle, Alberta, the youngest child of Clement and Sarah Bell. After completion of school in Craigmyle, she went in training to become a nurse at the Holy Cross Hospital in Calgary. Her nursing career saw her working in hospitals in Calgary, Edmonton, Cleveland, Ohio and Halifax, N.S. In Red Deer she worked for a time at the Red Deer General Hospital and the sick bay at Michener Centre. In her earlier years in Red Deer, Nonie was active in the Kinnette Club, the Rotary Anns and the U.C.W. of Gaetz Memorial United Church. She was also a long time member of the Red Deer Golf and Country Club. Nonie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Besides her adoring husband Frank, Nonie will be lovingly remembered by son John, daughter Jean (Richard), son Jim (Laura); three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Jean Holland of Red Deer. Nonie was predeceased by her parents; her sisters Hester Rothwell, Bernice (Bunny) Pollock, Maxine Keena and brother John Bell.
