MCKAY, Olga (nee Gonsky)


Olga McKay (nee Gonsky) passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Hospice on Monday March 20, 2017 at the age 85. Olga was born on September 26, 1931 in Tawatinaw Alberta, to Lewis and Anna Gonsky. She later relocated and settled in Red Deer where she raised her family and worked many years in the laundry service at Michener Centre. Olga always lived life with an optimistic "can do" attitude and an unstoppable work ethic. She had a smile that would light up a room. Olga's greatest passions included gardening, cooking, and baking. She took pride in teaching and passing those lessons on to her grandchildren. Her greatest joy in life was spending time and being with her family.

She was predeceased by her parents Lewis and Ann Gonsky, brother Joe (Hilda) Gonsky, brother Michael (Philolena) Gonsky, nephew Gordon Gonsky and granddaughter Kayla Mckay. She is survived by her children Linda (Maurice) McKay, Dan (Brenda) McKay, Darcey (Debbie) McKay.

She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren Stacy (David), Makena and Cash, Jayme (Andres), Katie and Maddison, Haley (Brandon), Sophie and Sadie, Danielle (Ryan), Brooklynn and Logan.

A celebration of her life will be held at Eventide Funeral Home, Friday, March 24, 2017 at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Red Deer Hospice Society.
