OPATRIL

July 25, 2008

OPATRIL It is with sadness in our hearts but gratitude for a lifetime of love that we say goodbye to our mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Elfriede (Frieda) Opatril, who passed away peacefully at the age of 88 years on Sunday, July 20th, 2008. "Grama", as she was known to most, will be remembered for having a kind and generous spirit, always putting her family first in her life. Born in Germany, her early life was filled with challenges including the passing of her mother. Frieda came to Canada in 1952, at the age of 32, with her husband, Fred and two young children to make a new and better life for her family. Her focus, drive and determination to build a life for her family were evident in all she did. Frieda was happiest spending time with her family creating wonderful memories and traditions we will cherish forever. Frieda, will be lovingly remembered by her children, Marie Hertz and Klaus (Jackie) Opatril; grandchildren, Barb (Bill) Thibault, Shawna (Derek) Schnick, Todd (Michelle) Opatril; great grandchildren, Brennan and Katrina Leslie, Brent Thibault, Megan and Alyson Opatril and Jordyn Schnick; as well as extended family in Calgary and Germany. Frieda was predeceased by her husband, Fred Opatril, granddaughter Tracy Opatril and great granddaughter Camryn Schnick. Our family would like to thank Dr. Myburgh, Dr. Robertson and team and the staff of Unit 32 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital for their care during the past month. A Celebration of Life for the late Frieda Opatril will be held at Parkland Funeral Home & Crematorium, 6287 - 67A St, Red Deer, AB on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 1:30 p.m.. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to any children's charity. Condolences can be forwarded to the family at www.parklandfuneralhome.com. In living memory of Frieda Opatril, a tree will be planted in the Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium Memorial Tree Park.
