OSZ January 6, 1932 - September 11, 2009 We are deeply saddened to announce that Doreen Loretta Osz passed away in Red Deer on Friday, September 11, 2009 at the age of 77. She will be lovingly remembered and missed dearly by all of her family and many friends. Doreen is predeceased by her husband Julius Osz, parents Ingemund and Mary Erickson, and brothers Melvin, Vernon and Gilbert Erickson. She is survived by her sisters Melva Brett, Delores Guyot, and Joanie (Ken) Loeppky her brother Elmer (Joyce) Erickson, and her children Judy (Doug) Todd, Lynda (Shelby) Craigen, Terry Hemstreet, Alan (Belinda) Osz and Murray (Jennifer) Osz, her husband's surviving brother Alex (Elizabeth) Osz and many nieces and nephews. Doreen will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren whom she loved and cherished; Tyler, Nicholas, Sean, Tony, Kris, Stephanie, Jordyn, Caitlyn, Julia, Hanna, Isaac and Ethan. Doreen Loretta Erickson was born near Olds, Alberta. She was raised on the family homestead before moving to Calgary where she met her husband Julius in 1950. They were married in 1952 and settled in Red Deer where she cared for and raised her family later working at Fabricanna and with Julius in the family tailoring business. She had a large and very special group of friends whom she truly cherished and considered part of her extended family. Doreen survived breast cancer and was later a committed volunteer in CanSurmount and Reach to Recovery speaking with and listening to other women who were also fighting breast cancer. She was a superb cook and had many interests throughout her life including cross country skiing, skating, sewing, music, a love of gardening and visiting with friends and family. She was a devoted mother and wife who gave her time selflessly. She truly treasured her family and their time spent together at family gatherings. She was an inspiration to each of her children in her generosity, commitment, enthusiasm, energy and zest for life. Doreen will always be remembered as loving, considerate, caring, thoughtful, concerned, and understanding. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff in the Red Deer Regional Hospital Emergency, ICU and Palliative Care Wards for their commitment and excellent care. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 21st, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at the Knox Presbyterian Church, 4718 Ross Street, Red Deer, Alberta, with a luncheon to follow at the church.
