FOX, Our mom, Irene Joan Fox of Red Deer, passed away very peacefully as a result of ALS at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Friday, February 24, 2006 at the age of 85 years. Irene was born on June 15, 1920 at Hillsdown, Alberta. Irene was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a caring friend. She was devoted to her family in every way, supporting each of her children and her grandchildren through the years in all their endeavors. She accepted challenges freely and worked hard at all her tasks. Irene was a Lifetime Member of the Central Alberta Pioneer Association, a Life Member of the Alberta Rebekah Lodge No. 77, Red Deer for nearly fifty-six years, a Life Member of the Hillsdown Branch of the Women's Institute W.I. and a longtime member of St. Luke's Anglican Church in Red Deer. She loved curling, lawn bowling and most other sports, as well as her favorite, hockey. Irene loved her friends and valued their friendships with all her heart. Irene leaves to mourn her loss, her daughter, Bobbie (Bert) Schweitzer and their daughters, Shala and Robyn, all of Calgary, Alberta and daughter, Terry-Lynn Stark of Red Deer and her daughter, Nicole of Kingston, Ontario. She will also be sadly missed by her son-in-law, Paul Zachaurk, his son, Andrew and daughter, Kristina and three great grandchildren, all of Kelowna, British Columbia, one brother, Jack Powell of Red Deer, as well as her sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and extended family members. Irene was predeceased by a son, Thomas Arthur Fox, her husband, Tom Fox, daughter, Alberta Zachaurk, granddaughter, Becky Stark and a brother, Stan Powell. A Public Celebration of Irene's Life will be held at St. Luke's Anglican Church, 4929-54th Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation entrusted to the Central Alberta Crematorum, Red Deer, Alberta. A Private Family Interment will be held at the Red Deer Cemetery, Red Deer, Alberta.
