October 8, 1938 - July 27, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father Owen (Bob) Lowe. Dad passed away in his home on July 27 at the age of 80 years old. Owen was born in Hubli, India on October 8, 1938. He and his family immigrated to Canada when he was 13 years old. They resided in Edmonton, Alberta where Owen met "his bride" Irene Mitchell. The two were married in 1958 and had four children. Owen and his family moved to Lethbridge in 1974, followed by a short move to Grande Prairie, then settling in Red Deer in 1980 for the remainder of his life. Owen worked as a Court Administrator for the Court of Queens Bench since his very early 20's. He began as a clerk and eventually became a District Manager. Owen has been very active at the Red Deer Legion since the early 80's, including serving as President. Branch 35 became his second home and he enjoyed many friendships over these past decades.
Owen is predeceased by his wife, Irene, his parents Harry and Alexandria Lowe and his niece, Linda. He is survived by his sister, Joan (Wayne dec.), his four children Maureen (Larry), Robert, Maxine and Madeline as well as his only grandchild, Derrick, his Brother-in-law Carl Mitchell and several nieces and nephews.
As per Owen's wishes, there will be no formal funeral but family and friends will be gathering at The Red Deer Legion on Thursday, August 15 at 1 pm.
