PARCELS 1929 - 2009 Edward McGregor "Mac" Parcels beloved husband of Shirley of the Horn Hill District, passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Thursday, October 15th, 2009, at the age of 80 years. Mac was born on June 25th, 1929 at Red Deer, Alberta. Mac lived and worked on a farm, which has been in his family since 1892. He will be forever remembered for his love of the land and livestock; a loyal farmer and family man. In addition to farming he worked with Charlie Ross part time as a trouble shooter for the Penhold Telephone Company. In his early years he enjoyed playing guitar and singing in a country band travelling through local districts where he met and later married the love of his life, Shirley Bodwell on October 20th, 1956. Mac's love of music continued and carried him through the last few years of his illness. His love of community included playing baseball in the summer, curling in the winter, and lending a helping hand to family and neighbors. Mac was a self taught carpenter, electrician, welder, mechanic, and veterinarian. Mac is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shirley, his children, Michael (Charlene), Susan (Jim), Sandra, Tim (Calli) and son-in-law Brad, along with his fourteen grandchildren, Tony, Kyle, Shane, Ashley, Ty, Jaclyn, Paul, Rachel, Cody, Mikayla, Megan, Hope, Daphne, and Carter, his two great grandchildren, Maddy, and Ariella. Mac is also survived by his two sisters Barb and Joan, his brothers-in-law, Gordon (Beth), and Joe (Darlene), his sisters-in-law Carol (Albert), Betty (Dale), Gail and Barb and other numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Mac was predeceased by his parents, Ivan and Annie, sister, Betty, and brothers-in-law, Donald, Howard, Jack, Allan, Orville, Len, and Bill. Mac will also be missed by his precious cats and dogs.
