HARASYM Peter Mr. Peter Harasym beloved husband of Mrs. Mary Harasym of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Hospice, Red Deer, Alberta, on Friday, August 21, 2009 at the age of 89 years. Peter was born on February 5, 1920 at Duvernay, Alberta. Peter moved with his family when he was four to Red Deer, where he was raised and took his schooling. Peter married the love of his life, Mary Welikoklad on July 6, 1946 and the two grew in love for their sixty three years together. Peter was a proud veteran he served his country in Italy and Holland during World War II. Peter and Mary settled in Red Deer, Alberta where he was employed as an autobody mechanic. He retired at the age of 61 and took up a new passion for travelling. Peter is survived by his loving wife, Mary Harasym of Red Deer, Alberta, his six children, Don (June) Harasym of Nelson, B.C., Barbara Harasym of Edmonton, Alberta, Carol (Randy) Mangan of Edmonton, Alberta, Patricia Babinec of Calgary, Alberta, Michael (Pat) Harasym of Calgary, Alberta, and Donna (Roman) Navratil of 150 Mile House, B.C. He is also survived by his eighteen grandchildren, David Harasym, Susan Harasym, Anne Harasym, Christie Gabriel, Kevin Mangan, Dale Mangan, Heather Mangan, Craig Mangan, Matthew Babinec, Madeline Babinec, Christopher Harasym, Charlene Harasym, Elsa Navratil, Peter Navratil, John Navratil, Marie Navratil, Daniel Navratil, Kathryn Navratil, one great grandchild, Bryce Mangan, a brother, William (Marie) Harasym of Toronto, Ontraio, a sister, Doreen (Derek) Mansell of Red Deer, Alberta, and a brother-in-law, Bill (Irma) Welikoklad of Red Deer, Alberta and their families. A prayers service will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapels, 4820-45 Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass in Peter's memory will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 6 McMillan Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta. on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Alto Reste Cemetery, Red Deer.
