Peter MEYER

November 15, 2004

MEYER, Peter Joseph Mr. Peter Joseph Meyer passed away at the Red Deer Nursing Home on Thursday, November 11, 2004 at the age of 79 years. Peter is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Iris, two sons, Brian (Bonnie) Meyer, Dean Meyer, seven grandchildren, Deedra (Geoff) Fenton, Chad (April) Meyer, Todd (Giselle) Meyer, Kerry (Shannon) Meyer, Josh Meyer, Paydan and Janel; great-grandchildren, Connor, Matthew, Haley, Kayla, Jayden, Shaylynn and McKayla. He was predeceased by his father Joseph and his mother Christine, two brothers and five sisters, two nieces and three nephews. Pete was born at Provost, Alberta and spent childhood years in Prelate, Saskatchewan where they were married in 1947 and moved to Alberta in 1953 to farm in the Sedalia area. In 1968 Pete and Iris bought the Hilton farm and moved east to the New Brigden area. During the next 15 year period the sports community came to know Pete as a fairly good ball player, but more so an exceptional hockey player. Pete's sportsmanship on the ice and true friendship and great sense of humor off the ice, were combined to create a rock solid reputation amongst all those who knew him. Between the years of 1978 and 1997, Pete and Iris truly enjoyed the "Snowbird" lifestyle, as they were able to spend many winters in Mesa, Arizona and then return to Beaver Lake for the summer. Pete's five grandchildren were blessed to have the opportunity to spend six out of eight weeks every summer at Beaver Lake with Granny and Pa. Pete and Iris moved to Red Deer in 1999 where Pete closed out his last chapter of his life. We will sincerely miss the one we love.
