PETTIBONE

June 2, 2006

PETTIBONE Mrs. Joy Pettibone, beloved wife of Ralph Pettibone passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Monday, May 29, 2006 at the age of eighty-one years. Born Joy Arlette Warner on April 5, 1925, the second daughter of Nora and Clifford Warner, Joy was raised on the family farm in Emerson Manitoba. Joy found her niche in teaching, and had a career of twenty-six years in Manitoba, Scotland, and Red Deer, Alberta. In Red Deer she would begin the most meaningful and eventful part of her life where she met a kindred spirit Ralph, a fellow teacher-principal, on the badminton court. They married during the Easter break in 1959 and she and Ralph would teach, attend summer and evening classes to further their education. When the family arrived, Joy became a "mom-at-home" for nine of the best years of her life. She enjoyed a long retirement and delighted in watching and participating in the growth of her grandchildren and entertaining her family on many special occasions. Joy and Ralph travelled extensively in North America, Australia, and Europe and many winters were spent as "Snowbirds" in the Florida Keys. She was an active member in her community and Church. Joy is survived by her husband Ralph, their three children: Ross (Jennifer) and children Mica, Glen; Myrna Brown (Jeff) and children Mitchell, Trevor; Karen Cronin (Ron) and children Kara, Danny; also her sisters Ruth, Edna and Beulah and many dear friends. Memorial services for Joy Pettibone will be held at the Gaetz Memorial United Church, 4758 Ross St., Red Deer, AB on Friday, June 2, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Fran Hare officiating. Following the funeral and reception a private family interment will take place. Condolences can be sent to the family by visiting www.reddeerfuneralhome.com
