August 31, 2004

PORTTIN, April 7, 1914-August 26, 2004 Eileen Ellen Porttin passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 26, 2004 at the Bethany in Sylvan Lake. She lived most of her 90 years in the Sylvan Lake area where she had many friends and family. Eileen loved her garden and the wonderful flowers that grew there. Everyone who knew Eileen will remember her charm, sense of humor and love of books. She was always ready for a story or a joke. She will be remembered with a smile. Eileen was predeceased by her husband Wilfred in 1969. She leaves a long list of nieces and nephews spanning 3 generations. The family would like to thank the staff at the Sylvan Lake Lodge and the Bethany for their care and love over the last few years. A celebration of Life was held on Sunday, August 29, 2004 at the Bethany in Sylvan Lake. When I quit this mortal shore and mosey round the earth no more Don't weep, don't sigh, don't sob I may have struck a better job Don't go out and buy a big bouquet For which you'll find it hard to pay Don't mope around and feel all blue I may be better off than you Don't tell folks I was a saint Or any other thing I ain't If you have jam like that to spread Please hand it out before I'm dead If you have roses bless your soul Just put one in my button hole While I'm alive and well today Don't wait til I'm gone away Author unknown.
